- »In "Sexual Violence as Class Conflict: Seizing Patriarchal Privilege in Early Modern English Drama," Ronda Arab also focuses on representa-tions of lower-class men, examining the intersection of sexual violence with class relationships and class conflict. Arab examines a number of plays-Heywood's Edward IV Part 1, Shakespeare's , Marlowe's Dr. Faustus, and Dekker's The Shoemaker's Holiday-that depict sexual violence or threats of sexual violence being used by lowborn men against higher-status women as a means by which to level class distinctions between men and to assert authority and status within a patri-archal society that distributes masculine privilege unequally among men.
